Two inventory apps for people who need to know where their things are. One is the well-known name; the other is the newer, cheaper one — ours. Here is a fair look at both.
Sortly is the established visual inventory app: photo-based folders, barcode and QR scanning with your phone, native iOS and Android apps, low-stock alerts, purchase orders on its higher tiers and a QuickBooks Online integration on Premium. It gates features by tier and prices by items and users — Advanced is $49 a month for 500 items and 2 users, Ultra $149 for 2,000 items and 5 users, Premium $299 for 5,000 items and 8 users. Annual billing cuts the first two to roughly $24 and $74 a month.
Storage Knight is the newer alternative built for homes and small businesses: every feature on every plan, priced only by capacity — Home is $15 a month for 1,000 items and 5 people, Enterprise $50 for 10,000 items and unlimited people — plus a Starter plan that stays free forever for 100 items on your own Google Drive or OneDrive. It adds transfers with a chain of custody, approvals, records that are never deleted and 20 languages. Barcode scanning and native apps are on its roadmap, not in it yet.
Choose Sortly if you need scanning and a native app today, or QuickBooks and an API. Choose Storage Knight if you want more items for less, every feature from the first day, shipments between sites with someone signing off, a free tier that does not expire, or a team that reads in several languages.
In USD, per month, with the annual equivalent underneath where there is one — so the two columns compare like for like. Storage Knight's are its early-adopter prices; Sortly's were checked in September 2026.

Both discount annual billing, so both are shown that way — quoting our annual price against Sortly's monthly one would flatter us by about half. Sortly's annual figures come from third-party pricing trackers rather than from us reading their site, and part of that discount appears to be a first-year rate, so treat them as approximate and check sortly.com/pricing for today's terms. Storage Knight counts items for the life of the account and never deletes a record; Sortly counts unique entries. Both offer a free trial with no card, and Storage Knight's Starter stays free after the trial for as long as your own cloud is connected.

Yes. Starter is free forever for up to 100 tracked items when your own Google Drive or OneDrive is connected, and it includes every feature the paid plans have. Sortly's free plan also covers 100 entries, for 1 user, with most features reserved for paid tiers.
Today: barcode and QR scanning with a phone camera, label printing, native mobile apps with offline mode, low-stock alerts, exportable reports, purchase orders, a QuickBooks Online integration and an API. Scanning, alerts, reports and native apps are on Storage Knight's roadmap and will land on every plan; purchase orders and accounting integrations are not planned — Storage Knight tracks what you own, it is not a purchasing system.
Transfers between warehouses with a carrier, a tracking number, days in transit and a receiving count; lost-in-transfer cases with a chain of custody; approval before stock leaves; sell-and-destroy disposals with an immutable record; per-capability permissions and an audit trail on every plan; records that are never deleted; photos stored in your own cloud; and 20 languages.
Both catalogue things with photos. Storage Knight adds numbered boxes — open BOX 7 on your phone and see what is inside without moving it — and its free plan has every feature. If you want to scan barcodes today, Sortly does that now and Storage Knight does not yet.
If people ship stock between sites and somebody has to sign off, Storage Knight was built for exactly that. On capacity it is the cheaper side of the comparison either way you bill: Enterprise is $500 a year for 10,000 items and unlimited people, against Sortly Ultra at roughly $888 a year for 2,000 items and 5 users.
